DASIL Membership Levels

Fellows

Any physician who is a graduate of either an allopathic or osteopathic medical school in good standing in the country in which the individual practices. The physician must be specialty certified, accredited, or credentialed by their country’s recognized responsible agency.

Associates

Any physician who is a graduate of either an allopathic or osteopathic medical school and is in good standing in the country in which the individual practices. The physician must have three years of experience specializing in the practice of dermatology or aesthetic surgery. An associate member may also be a teacher or graduate student who meets or is pursuing the educational requirements for a certification examination or meets their country’s requirements but has not yet been specialty certified, or credentialed, or accredited.

Fellow-in-Training

Any physician who is a graduate of either an allopathic or osteopathic medical school in good standing in the country in which the individual practices. The physician must be pursuing post residency or post graduate study. Applicants for fellow-in-training shall provide written evidence that they are in such a training program for each year that they apply for this category of membership. Individuals can only apply for this category for a maximum of one three-year sequence.

Resident

Any physician who is a graduate of either an allopathic or osteopathic medical school in good standing in the country in which the individual practices. The physician must be pursuing a residency in their country where they live. Resident members shall have the same rights and privileges as those of a fellow-in-training member. Resident members shall be obligated to show written evidence that they are in a residency program that is recognized by the country in which they participate in such a program.

Affiliate

A non-graduate of either an allopathic or osteopathic medical school who is actively engaged in the study, or research of either dermatologic or aesthetic surgery. The member must possess a doctoral level graduate degree or be employed to support dermatologic or aesthetic surgery practice environment. Affiliate members may work or volunteer as committee members. Affiliate members are not eligible to hold any offices or positions requiring being a physician or surgeon.

Honored Member

An individual who has provided special and/or significant service to the DASIL or to the specialty, who merits special recognition by the League. This category of membership shall be conferred by vote of the DASIL Board of Directors. Honored members shall not pay dues or assessments. Honored members may be appointed by the Board of Directors to committee positions. Honored members shall be ineligible to hold any positions requiring election by the membership or by members of the Core Organizational units.

Retired Member

A member in good standing who is no longer in active practice or in employment that is approved for membership in the League, but who wants to remain involved in League activities. The granting of this membership category shall be done by specific action of the Board of Directors.
